Computer Literacy Program for Unemployed Youths and Students.
In furtherance of our objectives of improving the lives of young people in Africa, we have collaborated with a number of organizations to provide free computer literacy training for unemployed youths and students.
We, in AFRYDEF decided to provide skill training in computer literacy for these categories of people because; computer literacy has become a prerequisite for employment in work places. For us to be able to achieve our aims of empowering other young people, be they graduates or non-graduates, we need to equip them with these skills.
We have continued to do this since 2001 and are more determined to enter into partnership with other IT related service providers to ensure that we wipe out computer illiteracy among these young people, who society believes are the leaders of tomorrow.
Some of the organizations that we have partnered with in the past include:
-
Imo State Secretariat of the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP, www.napep.gov.ng), a programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria between 2002 and 2003.
-
Poverty Alleviation Programme (PAP), a programme of the Imo State Government of Nigeria (www.imostate.gov.ng) between 2003 and 2005.
-
Zenith Computer Technologies, Owerri, Imo State (www.zenithcomputertechnologies.com) from 2007 till date.
